Turnkey Linux is interesting... they make a range of about 45 pre-configured VMs available (for free), offering a very quick way to set up simple websites running, say, Wordpress, Moodle or a File Server Appliance.
A list of their pre-built 'apps' is available.
To use one of these on our infrastructure, follow our new Using Turnkey Linux vApp templates guide.
There are a few minor annoyances in doing this, for example the pre-configured vmtools in the 'apps' don't work against our infrastructure which means that networking has to be manually configured, but overall it is extremely impressive to see the ease with which new VMs can be set up and run.
